Religious Education - KS5
Rooted in our Catholic faith and inspired by the spirit of St. John Bosco, our Religious Education department is dedicated to nurturing students spiritually, academically, and morally.
We strive to guide students into a deeper relationship with Christ, offering a Christ-centred learning environment where faith is not just taught but lived. We challenge our students to develop a deep love of learning and a strong moral foundation, integrating faith and learning into every aspect of their lives. By promoting service, love, and compassion, we aim to develop young people who live out Gospel values, contribute positively to their communities, and grow in wisdom and integrity, prepared to lead lives of purpose and conviction. In the spirit of St. John Bosco, we commit ourselves to developing children who are not only wise but wise in Christ, inspired to love, to learn, and to serve. As a Catholic Christian school our department works hand in hand with Chaplaincy to support and uphold the extensive religious life of the school.
For A Level the department offers AQA Religious Studies (Philosophy and Ethics). In this students study three strands of; Philosophy of Religion, Religious Ethics, and Christianity across the two years. They also look at the dialogue or relationship between the Christian faith and ethical and philosophical ideas.
For Core RE, students at the college complete an EPQ on a religious or ethical theme in Year 12, and they study topics relevant for our modern world in Year 13 include; social justice, environmental ethics, and conspiracy theories.
