Design & Technology - KS4
In Design Technology, we are providing students with an opportunity to investigate and develop their relationships with many aspects of technology.
This will result in an awareness and understanding of the technology that forms part of their everyday and future lives. We strive to ensure all students leave with skills in problem solving and fundamental practical skills that are relevant to their futures.
At KS4, students at Salesian have the opportunity to study either Design Technology, Art Textiles or Food Preparation and Nutrition. Within the Design Technology GCSE, students learn the core technical principles of the specification such as, new and emerging technologies, as well as one specialist material, e.g. paper and board, timber, etc…
For the Food and Preparation and Nutrition GCSE, our students learn practical skills alongside studying the five key topic areas including food commodities, principles of nutrition, diet and good health, the science of food and food provenance.
By the end of year 11, all our learners will have the ability to study independently alongside possessing more advanced practical skills in their relevant specialist areas.
