School meals

Our school canteen provides a range of hot and cold meals and snacks, prepared fresh every day. It is open three times each day for:

  • Breakfast: 8 to 8.30am
  • Mid morning snacks: morning break 10.10am
  • Lunch: 12.35 to 1.15pm

A typical daily offer includes

  • Breakfast: Bacon rolls, toast, cheese on toast, sandwiches, hot and cold drinks, cereal, cereal bars and fruit.
  • Mid morning snacks: Panini, pizza, bacon rolls,  wraps, sandwiches, cakes, biscuits, fruit and cold  drinks.
  • Lunch: Meal of the day, vegetarian meal of the day, budget meal, pasta and sauce, Panini, wraps, sandwiches, cakes, biscuits, fruit and cold drinks.

IMG_0641_380.jpgWe run a cash-less system in the school canteen. The children have their finger scanned when they first join the school and their purchases are then charged to a pre-loaded account.

Parents are responsible for adding money to their child’s account in advance via the online Tucasi account system.

Free School Meals

Your child may be able to get free school meals if you get any of the following:

  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseekers Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • the guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (provided you're not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
  • Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
  • Universal Credit

Children who get any of the above benefits in their own right (i.e. they get benefits payments directly, instead of through a parent or guardian) can also get free school meals.

This not only helps parents in saving a large amount of money on school dinners, particularly during these tough financial times, but it is also has a financial benefit to school.

All schools receive funding called 'Pupil Premium' which is calculated based on the number of children on roll receiving Free School Meals. Such funding enables provisions for extra in-class support, targeted intervention, additional resources and subsidised school trips for children entitled to free school meals.

If you think your child is entitled to free school meals, please read the guidance notes below, and then complete and return the application form to the School Office, to where any queries should be addressed.
