Extra-Curricular Activities

Extra-curricular activities are fundamental parts of life at Salesian school and all children are actively encouraged to take part in the huge wealth of activities on offer.

Duke of Edinburgh Award

IMG_1842_x180.JPGThe Duke of Edinburgh's Award is the world's leading achievement award for young people. It encourages young people to live life as an adventure. The programme is stepped across three levels, Bronze, Silver and Gold.

Students complete projects under five different sections:

  • Volunteering (with individuals, charities or in the community)
  • Physical (sports, dance or fitness)
  • Skills
  • Expedition (training for, planning and completing an
     adventurous journey)
  • Residential (Gold only)

At Salesian School we support students with their voluntary, physical and skills activities, which they largely organise themselves. However, we provide direct training and support for the expeditions, with after-school training and weekend practice hikes taking place on a regular basis.

Our Award leaders are:

  • Bronze Award – Mr D O'Shea
  • Silver Award – Miss S Woodroffe
  • Gold Award – Mr S Curson

For pictures from recent expeditions, check out our Celebrating section.
