In July, 40 keen Year 9 historians travelled to France and Belgium to commemorate the centenary of the First World War. The students visited several battlefield sites around the Somme and also the vast cemeteries of Tyne Cot and Essex Farm. We had an excellent guide who was captivating, extremely informative and really brought the First World War to life. On the trip some students were able to locate the grave stones of relatives and pay their respects, others wrote messages of condolence on wooden crosses. The students gained a wealth of knowledge from the trip and are hopefully inspired to continue studying History in the future.
The July 2015 is now open to current Year 9 students, please see Mrs Rider or Mr Goulborn for more information.
