On Thursday July 13th 2017, a training session was run for Year 7 pupils who wish to train as altar servers in school. The training session was organised by the School Chaplain and one of the Year 7 Student Chaplains. Pupils viewed a powerpoint written and presented by one of the Year 7 Student Chaplains which highlighted the necessity of prayer. Then pupils were lead through the practicalities of serving at the altar, including the safe lighting, holding and extinguishing of candles, the pouring of wine into the chalice, the ringing of bells at the Consecration and the importance of clearing away items from the altar in a sensible, orderly fashion. Certificates and small medals were awarded as a token of recognition and appreciation for the pupils' attendance and enthusiasm. A similar programme will be in place for next year.
