Each year we enter choirs, ensemble groups, and individuals in the Woking Music Festival, often as a preparation for the Christmas Carol Service.
On Monday 16th November we had two successes, when flautist Georgina Schild won her category (Advanced Woodwind), and our African Drummers took the 'Ensemble Music Making Under 17' title, winning the Kingdon Cup and achieving a Distinction.
On Tuesday 17th December, two choirs won their event. The Salesian Scholars, an audition choir whose students receive special voice training, won the Thompson Cup with 'Tantum Ergo' and Enya's 'Amid The Falling Snow'.
The Staff Choir (pictured), a group of 17 teachers who enjoy rehearsing after school, won the Radbone Cup, singing 'Wait For The Lord' and 'A Christmas Sanctus'.
The Junior Choir gained a Distinction in their class, and there were excellent performances from the Senior Choir and Sixth Form Choir.
On Wednesday and Thursday, Brendan Soane was awarded a Distinction in the U18 Piano recital category, Callum Mitchell was awarded 2nd place in the Under 14 Strings recital category with a Distinction, and the Salesian Quintet awarded a distinction in the Chamber Music category.
