In June, twenty-one pupils from Salesian School were taken by the School Chaplain Fr. Marco, Head of Year 9 Mrs. Ridley, and Ms. Jenkins, to a 24-hour residential retreat at St. Cassians retreat centre in Kintbury.
Situated in beautiful rural Berkshire, St. Cassians, established and run by the De La Salle Brothers, provides an idyllic setting for pupils to experience "faith, fun and friendship". The sixteenth century mansion is situated in extensive grounds, affording pupils ample opportunity to play football, ramble and experience the beauty of God's creation in a secure environment. We were welcomed by a dedicated team who offered a bespoke retreat for us. A predominant theme was "Awareness" – of ourselves, our neighbours and God.
The retreat was very well received by pupils and staff alike and we look forward to offering a similar opportunity to another group next year.
