Dear Parents & Friends of Salesian,
It has been another busy, productive and happy term here at Salesian. I hope you have enjoyed keeping abreast of the multitude of activity, achievement and development on this, our new website which is now the place to come for all the latest news. If you need to catch up on what you've missed, you could start with our Autumn term digest, packed full of the events of the last four months.
You will be pleased to know that there will be minimal change to staffing at the end of this term. We say farewell to Michael Connell-Smith who has been teaching in the Science Department for the last two years and helping run our Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme. Mr Connell-Smith and his family are relocating to East Anglia. Our Head of Science, Ben Spinks is also relocating but I am pleased that he has agreed to commit to the long commute for the rest of this year and will therefore continue to teach the majority of his classes. Mr Spinks will however be stepping down as Head of Science to accommodate this but we are delighted to welcome Dr Dom Mercone, formerly of SJB Woking, who will be joining us in January to take up this position. Emily O'Farrell from the Business Department starts her maternity leave at the end of this term and this will be covered by Sarah Ross, formerly of LVS Ascot, for the next term and a half. We look forward to hearing the joyful news of a Christmas baby from the O'Farrell household!
Our News and Celebrating sections are full of details of the various trips and events that the students have taken part in this term as well as their many successes in a range of artistic, sporting, charitable and academic pursuits. This term's highlights are summarised in our termly News digest. As always we acknowledge the incredible amount of hard work and support that is put in by the parents and families of our students in order for so much to be achieved. Thank you for everything you have done to ensure that they attend every day, are well prepared for the demands of schools and enthusiastically make the most of every opportunity.
Over the last weeks we have been focusing on the theme of "preparation" as we journey through Advent eagerly anticipating the joy of all that Christmas brings. With that in mind, please let me offer, on behalf of everyone here at Salesian, a peaceful but joyful Christmas to you and your families and all the very best for 2015.
