Mr Kibble's Autumn Message

Thank you for entrusting your children's education to us for another year; we had a great start to term and thoroughly enjoyed welcoming them all back. Everyone seemed to be full of enthusiasm and the vast majority were extremely smart; long may it last! We ended the first week by celebrating Mass together on the yard at Guildford Road; the experience of 1500 young people gathering and participating in Mass in such respectful fashion was quite inspirational. Anyone who has a poor opinion of teenagers today should visit Salesian School.

Thank you so much to all those who have written in over the holidays to thank staff for the excellent results the students achieved in their GCSE and A Levels. The results are of course a testimony not only to great teaching but also to the hard work of the students and everything the parents did to support them so thank you for your part in the success. Please see the news section of the website for our results.

At the beginning of each year we are asked by our neighbours to remind parents about parking considerately near the school site. This year I received a particularly clear message from the Residents' Association at Sandgates about parking in their car park. Essentially they are happy to keep letting our parents use the lower car park for picking up and dropping off but if people continue to block the entrance, park in the top car park or generally use their grounds as a space for recreation they will stop us from entering altogether. Anything you can do to help us keep relationships with the neighbours cordial would be much appreciated.

On the 1st September we converted to become an academy as part of the Xavier Catholic Education Trust. The Chief Executive is Ani Magill and the Chair of the Board of Directors is Peter O'Brien – many of you will know Peter as a former parent, Business Manager and Governor at Salesian. We are really excited about the opportunities that will arise from forming the Trust and look forward to the benefits it will bring to all children in the deanery moving forward.

I look forward to working with you all again this year as we continue to do all we can to secure the children's long term happiness.
