15 students, Father Andrew and Miss Mourelle all had the opportunity to visit Madrid and stay with host families in the May half term week after the Spanish students and their two teachers had come to visit to us in April this year. The students wrote:
The Madrid exchange was one of the most rewarding trips we have ever experienced. The experience started with us arriving in Madrid with a warm (not to mention loud) welcome from our Spanish pen pals and their families at
Madrid Airport. We already knew them well due to their visit to England, but that didn't stop us from being nervous about the prospect of staying in their houses and experiencing their culture for a whole week.
Our pen pals (who you can see with us in the photos) made us feel welcome and we enjoyed time in their company, but one of the best parts of the trip was walking around the city and exploring Madrid's culture, all whilst getting to know people in our own group better. We all enjoyed the sun, the scenery, and the Spanish Champions League football match between Atlético & Real Madrid.
The Spanish Exchange has given us the confidence to travel to a country and embrace a different culture. We are so grateful for the hospitality we received in Spain. Our families here in the UK loved meeting our Spanish friends. We have made friends we will keep in touch with for a very long time to come.
