To mark 200 years since the birth of Don Bosco our school formed a band called The Boscos. They released a single 'It's not enough' written by Cathra Plant for her Don Bosco RE project. The idea of a single gradually came about and on 18th September it was released. Despite none of the major radio stations giving it airtime it made the top 10 of the Amazon music charts and number 3 in their 'Movers and Shakers' chart, something the band had never dreamed of.
The whole experience has been quite marvellous with Youtube figures showing that the video of the single has been seen in 47 different countries around the world as diverse as Honduras, Australia and Costa Rica! It was first aired by Premier Radio when they interviewed Cathra on 3rd September; other radio stations that played the single were Wey Radio, Heaven Radio and, more recently, Insanity Radio from Royal Holloway University.
The band certainly made a bit of a noise for Don Bosco in his bicentenary year and pushed the language of God into, what is otherwise, a heavily secular music world. The combination of prayer, talent and people power shows what can be done even when the odds are stacked against you.
