Debate Club

English_Department_-_Debate_Club_380.jpgDebate Club in the English Department concluded this year with individual speeches about "Great British Values" and an afternoon cream tea. This followed a heated debate earlier in the term about the pronunciation of the word 'scone' and the 'correct' way to apply jam and cream. Helen Soane, Olivia Woods and Daniel Thompson in Year 7 all rose to the challenge by producing the most amazing baking and we thoroughly enjoyed testing the 'jam first' or 'cream first' theory!

It has been an exciting year, with inter-school debates between Salesian, Heathside and St Andrew's and our students have developed some fantastic rhetorical skills and considerable confidence during the year. We are very excited to be working with some of our junior schools in the new academic year by extending our debating and speaking to Year 6.
