At Salesian we work hard to plan a fair and balanced curriculum which matches the needs of every single one of our students, from the moment they arrive in Year 7, all the way until they finish their Sixth Form studies. Below you can find an outline of what we offer. More information on individual subjects can be found:
Students in Years 7, 8 and 9 study all of the following subjects:
All students will study a broad curriculum based on the above subjects with a view to choosing their option subjects at the end of Year 9. Classes are a mixture of streamed and mixed ability.
The curriculum at KS4 being followed by current Year 10 and 11 students (as of January 2015) comprises Core and compulsory subjects and Option subjects. For information about current Year 9 students preparing to start their GCSE courses in September 2015, please see the right-hand panel on this page.

More information about all the subject offerings can be found in the Subjects area of the school website, or you can download the 2016 Options booklet which applies to the students sitting their GCSEs in May/June 2018. There is also Option support for students that the school deem to be in need of a slightly reduced curriculum.
Some subjects still have an element of Controlled Assessment (although this is being phased out) and this is centrally planned throughout the 2 year course.
After completing their GCSEs, the vast majority of our Year 11 student chose to stay with us through to our Sixth Form at Highfield Road. A comprehensive programme of information evenings, open evenings and careers guidance, often with the opportunity to speak personally to a wide range of professionals, help them chose the path that is best for them.

Students choose four further subjects to take: one from column A and three from column B. Note: students wishing to take 'triple' science will need to select this as one of their options.
