Salesian students have been helping the Diocese of Arundel and Brighton celebrate its 50th anniversary at the Amex Conference Centre in Brighton (Sunday 5th July). There were close to 11,000 people from right across the diocese who attended the celebrations. A variety of activities, worship and events were organised for the day. The RE Department and Art Department teamed up to provide an exhibition of religious art; we turned out to be the only secondary school to do so.
There was a variety of religious themes ranging from The Holy Trinity to images of churches and from sacred texts to images of Our Blessed Lady. As you would expect from any art exhibition, the styles of art were wide and engaging. Mrs Baker and Miss Crabb worked tirelessly with students to ensure that all work was of exhibition standard. Thanks to Mrs Morrison's encouragement a good number of pupils who would never have dreamed of submitting work, chose to do so. As a result, the exhibition was greatly appreciated, indeed, several offers from members of the public to buy some of the artwork were made.
